Sometimes a quick weekend getaway is all you need to shift perspective and get back to what matters most. Our latest adventure to Beaufort, SC was nothing short of wonderful. We spent our days wandering the historic streets, rockin’ on the porch, enjoying AHHHMAZING food, and talking to each other. Real, long, uninterrupted conversations. I’d do it all over again every weekend if I had my way! Beaufort is a very special place with buckets and buckets of Old Southern Charm. The history, the food, the homes. Y’all! It’s my favorite.
Here’s a look at how we spent our weekend.
friday
Friday morning we loaded up the Prius (yep, we own a hybrid! haha) and jetted off to Beaufort. The trip is a little over 2 hours from our house so we made it just in time for lunch at Bricks On Boundary. It was quick and easy – a true neighborhood sports bar. I had the mini pulled pork sandwiches and they were the bomb! After lunch, we drove around town for a bit before checking in to our airbnb. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our home for the weekend! It was the best possible location (right in the heart of downtown!), as cute (and clean – bonus points!!!) as can be, and we had a private parking spot which made getting everywhere a breeze. Full post coming soon all about our experience with airbnb’s. After checking in I went straight for the bubble bath! Haha! How else does one kick off a mini-vacay weekend? Next up was a walk to the Lowcountry Product Market to pick up some essentials. We kicked off the evening with with a delicious dinner at Wren’s. We will definitely be back on our next trip. After dinner we took a drive through Habersham and made a few local friends at Maggie’s Pub & Eatery. It was so much fun!
saturday
Saturday morning we slept in as late as we could (such a treat!) then enjoyed a late breakfast at Palm & Moon Bagels. Your girl loves a good bagel. Actually, your girl loves a good carb. Carbs of all kinds are a win in my book! Haha. We followed breakfast with a carriage ride around Historic Beaufort. Growing up in a touristy town the whole “carriage tour” concept seems a little overrated. But.. being the adventurous couple that we are, we decided to hop on the horse and take a stroll. Worth it! We carefully selected Sea Island Carriage Co. as our tour guides for the day. Our guide was very knowledgable and just as funny. If you’re planning a trip to Beaufort – I couldn’t recommend the carriage ride more! After our tour we spent some time perusing shops downtown. A few of my favorites were Scout Southern Market (be sure to try the Sweet Tea Float!) and M Home & Garden. We followed up shopping with a waterfront lunch at Q on Bay! Apparently they have the best beer list in town, so hubby was a happy camper! 😉 After lunch we drove down to Hunting Island State Park and Folly Beach. Absolutely stunning! On our way home for a little nap and pre-dinner porch sittin’ we popped into the Carolina Cider Company. Loved every second of it. We finished the evening with dinner at Old Bull Tavern. Old Bull was honestly the best meal I’ve had in a loooong time! Our drinks, apps, and entrees were seriously drool-worthy. I’m still thinking about the baked oyster appetizer… it was out of this world, friends.
sunday
Sunday was a blast. We woke up and ran over to the Lowcountry Produce Market for an out of this world breakfast. We ordered #allthethings (donuts included!) and ate just about all of it. The tummy aches were totes worth it. After breakfast we checked out a few neighborhoods on our “must-see” list. Everyone does this when they travel, right?! Haha! Then we went on down the road to Bluffton, SC for a lunch at Fat Pattie’s. This restaurant was the bee’s knees. Loved the atmosphere! On our way back home we stopped by Palmetto Bluff for one final adventure. Palmetto Bluff is unreal. It’s like a little utopian Southern society in the middle of South Carolina with EVERYTHING you’d ever want in a town. I wish I could share more about how perfect it is but you’ll have to visit for yourself to discover the real magic.
All in all, our trip was phenomenal and I can’t wait to visit again soon! Weekend getaways will forever be my favorite. Now please enjoy the photo overload below. 😉
