Adios, first trimester. It’s been real. Just kidding y’all it’s been hard. Making a human is no walk in the park. SO grateful for our blessing of a baby though!
How far along? 15 weeks! Baby is the size of a sweet little orange. Crazy to me.
Weight gain? Unfortunately I’ve been losing weight instead of gaining weight. I have to give all the credit to my pal morning sickness. Entering in to the second trimester my #1 job is to gain weight! Any and all advice is welcome! 🙂
Maternity Clothes? Not yet. My jeans barely fit these days so I’ve been living in a pair of jeggings (elastic waistbands for the win!) and loose fitting dresses.
Stretch Marks? No sign of these but I did order this Burt’s Bee’s Belly Butter. Will start lathering this stuff on daily as prevention.
Sleep? Pretty much all I want to do. I’m still SOOOO stinkin’ exhausted all the time. Poor Pearce is definitely getting sick of my falling asleep around 7pm… I’m currently averaging 11-16 hours a night. WHAT IN THE WORLD?!
Best moment of the 1st trimester? The week before last we went to Jacksonville for a fancy ultrasound (their technology is more advanced than our local doctor’s office) and it was AMAZING to see our little babe moving around – this little guy/gal could not stop flipping, twirling and jumping! Funny because I had only ever imagined him/her sleeping. We were able to get a good look at everything (legs, brain, spine, etc.) and hear the heartbeat together. Mind blowing.
Looking forward to? Finding out if #SweetBabyFuss is a boy or girl. We’ll find out (if the baby cooperates!) on Saturday!
What I miss? Unlimited amounts of coffee, days without nausea, having energy, and eating hot dogs. Weird because I wasn’t a huge hot dog person pre-pregnancy.
Movement? Tons! But I haven’t felt it yet. Currently googling to find out when I’ll start feeling those sweet kicks. 🙂
Food Cravings? This is a tough subject. I have a love-hate relationship with food right now. I can only eat small amounts at a time but I’ve definitely been craving BBQ, hot dogs (as previously mentioned, haha!) and junk food like potato chips. I am the pregnant lady I swore I would not be lol. If the baby wants Cheetos the baby gets Cheetos. This behavior will not carry on outside of the womb. Promise.
Anything make you queasy or sick? Just about everything lol.
Gender guesses? Up to three dreams about the baby being a girl and everyone tells me awful morning sickness is an indicator that baby could be a she. So I’m honestly leaning toward girl right now. Pearce is team boy.
a few things I couldn’t live without,
1.Old navy jeggings are the only pants I’ve been comfy in! With a growing belly the elastic waistband has been a dream. They feel like pajamas!
2. The Bump App is the bomb. Every Monday (when I reach the next week of pregnancy) I get a baby update letting me know it’s size (compared to a fruit of course) and what’s developing that week. I also get the down low on what I can expect as the mama. The app also sends you a ton of helpful articles relating to questions you may be having that week. Love it.
3. Candy. Mints, gum, and sour candies are essential for fighting off the nasty metal taste that’s ALWAYS in my mouth. A side effect of pregnancy I was not at all expecting. Lots of surprises, people.
4. 5. 6. Favorite reads so far have been Bringing Up Bebe (loved learning about how the french parent), What to Expect When You’re Expecting, and (beware – this one’s rated R!) Belly Laughs.
7. Staying hydrated is hard work. These Liquid IV packs are life changing!
8. Peppermint Oil is kept on my person at all times! I’ve had crazy painful headaches these past couple of weeks and peppermint oil is the only thing that helps.
Thanks for following along with #SweetBabyFuss! Y’all have already made us feel so loved and excited for this season! Your support means the world to me!
love y’all, mckenzie

I lost almost 30 pounds the first few months. But it all piled on in the last trimester. In a healthy way!! Once the morning sickness faded some! So hopefully you will too 🤗

I remember all too well the struggles of that first trimester! In fact, it sounds like you & I were crazy similar in habits…all day “morning” sickness, exhausted 24/7, losing weight, the list goes on. I was dead set that we were having a girl too because of my acne and nausea, but low and behold I’m now 31 weeks preggo with a sweet boy. It’s so exciting to find out the gender…and so tempting to go buy ALL the tiny clothes! Burt’s Bees Mama Belly Butter works wonders! I still have yet to see a stretch mark, and fingers crossed it stays that way. As for gaining weight, don’t put too much stress on yourself. Eat healthy (when you can), stay hydrated, try to be active, and the weight gain WILL happen, don’t you worry! Ha. Good luck, this is such an exciting time!

You too, friend! It’s fascinating how the french parent – making lots of mental notes! It was nice to read about parenting vs. pregnancy for a change.

Sweet tarts helped me survive my pregnancy with Beau! I don’t have a gender guess for you yet.. but I will note that my morning sickness with baby boy was SO much worse than with baby girl, because of wives tales I was convinced he was a girl! Can’t wait for y’all to find out.. it is the most surreal thing to see God’s plan for your family unfold.
