Onion frites, twinkle lights, and the best french food on the island. The ingredients for date night perfection! A couple of weeks ago Pearce surprised me with an impromptu date night out on the town. After a few particularly busy weeks this was exactly what we needed. P selected a local favorite, Le Clos. 99% of his decision was reflective of the onion frites (pictured below, #droolworthy) and the rest of his decision was based on the romantic aesthetic, killer cuisine, and cutesy location. A 10/10 in my book. I’m constantly asked for Amelia Island recs and Le Clos is always on my list when chatting with readers.
Our little island is not only a fabulous place to grow up but also an ideal travel destination for a romantic weekend getaway, family vacation, or bachelorette party! Since I started this blog I’ve received
dozens hundreds of requests for travel tips, restaurant recs, and even a list of reliable babysitters, ha! While there are definitely plenty of amazing resources floating around the web, I thought I’d share my own list of local favorites. I’ve been fortunate enough to call this place home since June 18, 1994 so I’ll have you know – pairing down this list was no easy task. In fact, it’s taken me YEARS to get this content out of my draft folder and available to readers. So without further ado, here’s my list of reasons I love where I live and a ton of suggestions for your next visit. 😉
This list now lives on a permanent blog page so you can easily access the evolving list from my sidebar (on the righthand side) or the main menu bar at the top of my blog.
Ps. I absolutely LOVE hearing from y’all about your visits to the island! Your messages, emails, and instagram tags make me SO happy!
It’s that time of year again! One of my favorite hometown traditions that’s only getting better as I get older. The Shrimp Festival in all of it’s glory is truly a reflection on how far our little town has come. It’s a celebration of Fernandina’s history in the shrimping industry and a heck of a lot of fun for everyone involved. One of the biggest events of the year here on Amelia. One of the reasons I was SO ready to move back to town, from Tampa was for the strong sense of community here. It’s something special and something I took for granted of for way too long.
